Silence . . .

Her fragile body aches with regret in the silence of her sacred sanctuary
Her crowded mind fills the silent gaps with the remnants of her father’s brutal screams and her mother’s bitter sobs
Her sullen eyes bellow for comfort,
they are exhausted from exuding the tears which seem to leave behind scorching scars
as they cascade down the porcelain skin of her cheeks

Within the silence, the cold breeze violently grasps her body and leaves her shivering
The pillow under her head is wet, heavily stained with tears
She is traumatized, violated by the silence

The silence . . .

The silence that embodies the pain she has endured
The silence that ominously repeats the malicious words that have been inscribed into her mind
The silence that carefully takes ahold of a menacing blade
and plunges it violently into her miserable heart,
piercing the delicate barrier of flesh
The silence that leaves her struggling for breath
The silence that leaves her clutching her chest
The silence that leaves her no choice but to squeeze her eyes shut and scream

She screams!

She screams!!

She screams!!!

. . . until there is silence once more.
