Ode to Sorrow

HappinessPoetry

Sorrow
Whispers
In your ear
Thoughts
Of defeat —
You’re a failure!

She may
Be relieving
At the time
But don’t
Give in
To Sorrow.

She spins
Her webs of sadness,
Wrapping around
Your heart
Her eight
Thin legs,
Crawling through your soul.

She feeds
On your despair,
Poisoning your mind.
A depression in
Your life,
She wrecks you.

Killing the love
In your heart,
Sorrow sneaks up
Behind you,
Dangling
On her gossamer
Filament
Of tears.

She waits
Until you’re at your weakest,
Pumping
Depression
Into your
Heart.
She breaks you
Beyond repair.
It all starts with
A little trip.

Don’t give in
To sorrow’s pull,
Don’t fall into
Her cobwebs,
Don’t believe
Her pity.
Never follow Sorrow.

She draws
You in
With her string,
Luring you in
With tears.
Do not
Hold
Your Sorrow in,
But do not enter
Her labyrinth.
For once you’re in
Her maze of despair,
There’s no coming back.
