The Anxiety Poem

Shekina Oh

May 9, 2025

one more exam, and my hands
are shaking like an earthquake,
rocking like a boat about to sink,
for the possibility of failure
is a hundred percent in my mind;
I furrow my eyebrows, looking
at the test questions; I’ve studied
these, but no guarantee I pass,
so my heart pounds, heavy as if
the world crushes me; my palms
sweat buckets, and I want to
run far, far away, out of the class
and into the city, where I’m free
from test anxiety.
