My community supports emotional well-being through a variety of ways. First, my community believes that the key to supporting emotional well-being is to provide a ready and listening ear. Whether at school, where we are able to approach our teachers, peers, or assigned school counselors for any kind of assistance, or in public spaces, where we do not have to feel like our well-being is being stigmatised and open conversations are always welcome, support is only a few sentences or classroom blocks away. When facing struggles with our emotional well-being, what my community provides is a non-judgemental space and people that are willing to listen, empathize, and give earnest advice to help us.
Second, my community promotes a diversity of well-being strategies. From teaching us different methods to deal with stress and time management to seriously boosting our self esteem and knowledge through healthcare and grooming programs, or even raising awareness on positive and long-lasting relationships, my community advocates different ways to better our overall wellness. Everyone’s struggles with emotional well-being are unique, and having a diverse array of options is essential to ensure everyone is taken care of. After all, my community believes that there is no fixed way of supporting emotional well-being — we all have to be malleable and adapt, with empathy and benevolence, to meet the needs of the people around us.
And last, but certainly not least, my community advocates for growth. It is heavily emphasized by teachers and parents alike that emotional well-being is inextricably connected to our own personal development. The journey to bettering our emotional well-being still ultimately falls in our hands, but my community is always by our side to encourage and cheer us on. Their contributions are undeniably present — as without their important lessons on tackling problems by using models like the growth mindset, many situations would have been fraught with uncertainty or fear. They provide us with the building blocks to forge a path of improved well-being and a healthier mental state.
