Strength: I define it as the opposite of weakness. Those who own it are more independent than others, and they use it to satisfy their own needs and wishes. Those who possess strength decrease their possibility of being influenced but their luck increases while influencing others, and of course that is so important at the time of being in charge of the community. With strength, the leaders also earn security, and who would not follow a self-confident leader? So, thanks to that, they win the most important thing: people’s trust.
Influence is another essential point at the head of a community, because it helps you to affect the actions and also change the decisions of the people, without the use of force or other mechanisms. Having influence makes it possible to lead groups, nations, and others towards positive changes. Strength and influence are the perfect combination, taking into account that the first is how the follower’s obedience is achieved and the second the process of influencing the behavior of others. In a leader who has good purposes, it’s a useful tool because it results in a positive way in the community and also inspires more people to follow their community leaders.
However, people in my community sometimes don’t realize how much they are influenced by powerful people, sometimes for good but, to be honest, most of the time only for their own convenience. From my point of view, that’s our problem as a community, because we are blind and we let the city leaders do what is best for them. That’s where my idea comes from: strength and influence in the wrong hands can be very dangerous.
The oldest people of my community always thought that the strength and influence used by leaders was just something good, that someone who has those qualities only uses them to accomplish as many good things as possible for everyone, because they really trust a lot in our leaders. But as we already know, this is not always the case. Nowadays in my community, many young leaders are trying to change that view. They are not ready to support bad leaders anymore, and they’re using strength and influence in a correct way to make people’s thinking come true. So, we can consider young leaders as the strength and influence of the community, because we find strength in their perseverance when it is time to fight for what they want and influence in their way of expressing what they think to convince more and more people. Maybe what we need is just that, more people with open minds ready to fight to give to the community the future that they want and deserve.
