People dream and strive to make dreams come true. However, our seemingly unlimited abilities to dream are somehow confined by a powerful obstacle: fear.
Whether it is the fear of failure or of being overlooked, fear prevents us from finding the perseverance we need to achieve our goals. Despite the challenges we encounter, our communities can alleviate the sense of despondency, motivating us to resume our journey.
I dream of becoming a successful engineer one day. But whenever I receive my report cards, I can feel my dedication to fulfilling my dream shatter into unfixable pieces. Many times, in the middle of the night, I contemplate my future and feel helpless. I often begin to lose motivation and question if I will ever make it.
This fear of failure engulfs me, depriving me of motivation to continue trying to pursue my goal. Failures after multiple attempts would indeed result in my decrease in confidence, but whenever I see my peers around me all working hard on something as simple as completing an assignment, I regain the lost motivation I long for. Their diligence is the source of my determination. Pressure is eventually engendered, pushing my lazy self to work hard like the others. Over the years, I have been trying to combat my laziness without discerning the fact that my community is all I need. Encouraging words from either a friend or a family member can be motivating; however, the most effective source of motivation is the environment of hardworking peers you immerse yourself in.
My community encompasses the sense of diligence, productivity, and perseverance that motivates me to be ambitious and go after my dreams. I tell myself to “work hard for my dreams and goals.” I try my best to sacrifice my leisure for progress. My community assists me in putting my words into action.
