Prioritizing Emotional Well-being in Liberia

There are several ways in which my community in GSA Road-Rock Hill, Liberia, supports emotional well-being. One way is by providing access to mental health resources, such as counseling services, support groups, and crisis hotlines for those in need of emotional support. This helps to improve the emotional health of each and every citizen within my community.

Another positive measure being put into place by my community is the offering of wellness programs by elderly people that focus on physical, emotional, and mental health. My mother Mrs. Vaiba K. Brofee opened a counseling section at our house, where an individual who is not emotionally well can go in order to seek psychotherapy, such as meditation sections and mindfulness activities to promote their overall well-being.

Furthermore, my community also has a health team that informs the people by making a weekly public awareness announcement about mental health issues and the importance of emotional well-being. The public services can be done through the means of workshops, local radio shows, soundboards, and campaigns, in order to reduce the high level of stigmatization and to promote open conversation about mental health.

Moreover, my community has established support networks for individuals that face emotional challenges, such as peer support groups and mentorship programs. My community regularly hosts events and workshops, which focus mostly on mental health awareness, stress management, psychotherapy, self-care, and mindfulness practices to promote emotional well-being.

Lastly, my community prioritizes emotional well-being as a crucial aspect of overall health and provides various resources, through social connections, community-based initiatives, shared experiences and support systems to help individuals maintain a healthy and balanced emotional state.
