Almost everybody in the world has a family. Family consists of the most important people in our life. They can take good care of us, support us, and give us a helping hand in difficult situations. In addition to this, we often call best friends and neighbors our “second family” that makes our existence much better and fun. An interesting thing is that people in every country take care of each other in a completely different way because of the culture.
Ukraine is a very close-knit country. Everybody knows everyone in my neighborhood. We all enjoy helping, and I think it is because of our folk traditions. At all times the Ukrainian nation has been known as very kind, sympathetic, understanding, and hospitable.
In my family, we have wonderful relationships with each other. We receive warm greetings and fabulous gifts from one another on birthdays, Christmas, Easter, St. Valentine’s Day, and other holidays. Therefore, I would like to congratulate my parents and grandparents because each member of the family is dear to me. So as I know, my friends and neighbors follow the same traditions at special events. All these people aren’t less important to me. There were situations when we shared not only happy moments, but also grief, such as funerals together. On such sad and difficult days, the pain will not hurt that much if you are not alone but lucky enough to have someone who can stand next to you and dry your tears. If one of our neighbors is sick, the whole building with 300 apartments collects the money for an appropriate treatment. Unfortunately, it is quite common to meet a homeless person near each supermarket and church in Ukraine. Such people never ask for more than just a loaf of bread and a bottle of water. Almost no one can reject them. I think it is such a simple, but a very honorable, act of humanity. My opinion is that we should never decline or betray those who need our help. And this is the specificity of our nation – to love and respect even very distant familiars. That is one of the reasons why I love Ukraine and I am happy to be a Ukrainian teenager.
In conclusion, I want to admit that all countries and cultures have their own ways of taking care of each other. The only thing is that we should always stay kind and sympathetic and give a helping hand to those who need it.
