There are many ways to express love in my family. My family is relatively big. My father has two brothers and two sisters, and my mother also has two sisters. In this case, how to express love in such a big family is extremely important to the relationships within the family.

For relatives who live in the same place, we will get together on various holidays to express our love to each other through adults’ meals, and the children go out to play and talk to each other about the funny events that happened at school. Of course, in addition to holidays, we also get together on weekends to celebrate our family’s special events. Relatives living in the same place can also help each other solve difficulties. For example, my father often helps to pick up my cousin from school, and my uncle often gives me some guidance on my physical fitness.

Some relatives do not live in the same place, such as my aunt, who is an immigrant living in Australia now. In order to express love to each other, we usually get together by video call and eat dinner. Before the COVID-19 outbreak, we also often sent each other things, such as Lao Gan Ma chili oil, UGG boots, and red wine. Not only that, my aunt would entertain me and let us stay in her home when our family went to Australia, and we would also do the same when they came back to Beijing.

There are four people in my nuclear family: my father, my mother, my sister, and me. We have a family meeting at 7:00 every Saturday night, after dinner, where everyone says good things about each other, and then we play some parent-child games like card games and sports together, and so on. We also often express our love in some casual details. For example, when my sister buys snacks, she always buys one more for me. I also bring back some souvenirs for her when I travel.

These are the ways that my family expresses love and kindness to each other. We will keep doing this, and I will pass it on to my children.
