A community is a fixed geographical area in which the members of society exercise social functions and create social norms with the living environment as the main body. The fundamental task of community culture construction is to form a community spirit and promote community development to ultimately improve residents’ quality of life. My community has conducted a series of activities on building a collective sense of shared belonging.
Community culture-building does not simply mean some recreational, mass culture, but an overall community atmosphere that, like corporate culture, acts as a cohesive force for all people in that group. My community uses the popularization and deepening of community cultural activities as an entry point, the promotion and cultivation of community moral codes as a support point, and the active promotion of socially accepted values, outlooks on life, and ways of behavior. For example, my community holds a student exchange every holiday season. Children in the community, including elementary and middle school students, interact and complete a series of interactive games. In the process, we all have the same thing in common – we are in the same community jurisdiction and closer to each other. At the same time, the community organizes activities that instill the same philosophy and reinforce our identities, making us feel like we belong to a community and a group. My community eventually formed shared ideals, values, customs, and traditions over time — in other words, a typical community spirit. In addition, my community conducts regular lectures and other communication activities for people. The community will actively respond to the needs of the national government in promoting values and various sciences, and actively promote the correct values, being that we have a similar set of positive and suitable ideas.
Under the influence of community spirit, residents’ community consciousness, cohesion, and sense of belonging are continuously strengthened, and residents are guided to participate in the management of community affairs consciously and independently. At the same time, community culture construction should focus on cultivating the noble moral sentiments of residents; improving their cultural taste; guiding people to pursue what is accurate, sound, and beautiful; and giving full play to the role of culture in guiding the thoughts and behavioral orientation of community members.
