Crisis & Change

The artist writes: “I created this piece using gold and black acrylic paint. For my perception of crisis and change, I assumed the identity of money within the economy. The gold signifies wealth, while the black signifies how it is slowly being corrupted into a tar-like facade used to manipulate the masses into submission. The rough patchy strokes are used to emphasize how this process isn’t rigid, but a zig-zag line where the economy is slowly falling into shambles worldwide as money becomes the controlling factor in society. The overlapping between the two colors shows how the black is beginning to overpower the gold; this enunciates how, within corruption, money is no longer used for comfort but has rather become a focus for luxury, which many can not afford.”
